Meaning
APEDA is an apex body, incorporated under Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act, which has been entrusted with the duties of promotion and development of agricultural exports in the country.
An APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) registration is mandatory for the business engaged into the business of export of agriculture and processed food from India. It is also called as RCMC- Registration-cum-Membership Certification.
Exporters, packers, processors, manufacturers, traders, local farmers and other businesses engaged in the export of certain agricultural products are obliged to register with APEDA. - Pickles, Papads and Chutneys.
- Guar Gum.
- Floriculture and Floriculture Products.
- Herbal and Medicinal Plants.
- De –oiled rice bran.
- Green pepper in brine.
- Cashew Nuts and Its Products.
Further, Basmati Rice has been included in the Second Schedule of APEDA Act.
In addition to this, APEDA has been entrusted with the responsibility of monitoring the import of sugar as well.
